Blockchain Pulse Survey 2025

Blockchain Pulse Survey 2025

We have just released the new Blockchain Pulse Survey 2025, which is now available for download in English and German. The latest edition shows that blockchain is no longer a future experiment for the Swiss financial sector – it has become part of day-to-day strategy and execution.

Between August and October 2025, 28 banks and financial service providers in Switzerland took part in the survey, ranging from retail banks to specialised digital-asset players. Almost two-thirds (64%) of respondents now see high long-term potential in blockchain – up from 37% in 2024 – underlining its role as a future backbone of financial-market infrastructure.

Key takeaways from the 2025 survey

  • Strategy becomes standard: 86% of institutions now have a formal blockchain strategy in place. The challenge has shifted from planning to execution, with responsibility increasingly moving from innovation teams to core product units.
  • Crypto services go live: More than 60% of respondents already offer live cryptocurrency services to clients.
  • Concern around stablecoins: 75% of decision-makers believe Switzerland is “acting too cautiously” on stablecoins, and risks losing its competitive edge to the EU’s MiCA framework among others.
  • Pragmatic focus: 61% report no plans for advanced blockchain applications, choosing instead to concentrate on foundational layers such as tokenisation and settlement.

The study is a joint initiative by the Center for Financial Services Innovation at the University of St. Gallen, ACK, mintminds, PwC and vision&.
